The acute effect of whole-body low-frequency vibration on countermovement vertical jump performance in college-aged men

Abstract:The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of an acute Power Plate® machine bout on jump performance. 21 male college students participated in this study. The average power in a countermovement jump was significant higher in the 3∗10 seconds 50Hz High condition (C4) compared with the 30 second 30Hz High (C1) and the 30 second 50Hz High condition (C3).Conclusion:Power Plate applied intermittently using 50Hz appears to be more effective than other protocols using 30 and 50Hz when looking at jump performance. The results of this study also suggest that the higher the frequency the bigger the post activation potentation (PAP) effect for a 30 second protocol.
