Acute exercise with whole-body vibration decreases wave reflection and leg arterial stiffness

Abstract:The aim of this study was to determine the effects of a single bout of static exercises with and without vibration on arterial stiffness. 15 healthy subjects participated in this study. The Power Plate® machine intervention resulted in an improvement in all factors influencing arterial stiffness compared with the non-vibration group.Conclusion:The results of this study show that a Power Plate intervention counteracts the increase in arterial stiffness induced by a static squat. This is important as an increase in arterial stiffness is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events.
