Electromyographic response during whole body vibrations of different frequencies with progressive external loads

Abstract:The aim of this study was to analyze if exposure to acceleration from a Power Plate® machine, at different frequencies with no or additional loads promotes changes in EMG activity. 16 male subjects participated in this study. Subjects received the treatment while standing on a vibration platform with knees bent at 100°, in 25 conditions. The highest EMG signals were found at 30 Hz but no significant differences were found between the different frequencies.Conclusion:Power Plate acceleration at 30 Hz in a half squat position without any additional load significantly increased the EMG activity of all muscle portions studied compared with the non-vibrating condition of the same position.
