Effects of different magnitudes of whole-body vibration on arm muscular performance

Abstract:The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the superimposed effect of vibration on the muscular performance of the upper body. 20 recreationally-active students participated in this study. In both the Low and High magnitude conditions the total number of elbow extension repetitions significantly increased, compared with the control group. Only the High magnitude condition showed a significant increase in average velocity of the whole elbow extension set, compared with the Low magnitude and the control condition.Conclusion:The results of this study indicate that vibration via feet provides superimposed stimuli for the upper body muscular performance. High magnitude vibration generates more neuromuscular facilitation than low magnitude vibration.
