Effects of combined whole-body vibration and resistance training on muscular strength and bone metabolism in postmenopausal women

Abstract:The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 8 months of Power Plate® training combined with resistance training on muscular strength and bone metabolism. 55 postmenopausal women participated in this study. No significant difference in bone mineral density was found. A significant increase in 1RM strength after 4 and 8 months was found in the resistance only and resistance plus vibration groups compared with baseline and the control group.Conclusion:Power Plate training enhanced the positive effects of resistance training on upper and lower body muscular strength in postmenopausal women.
