Effect of an acute bout of whole body vibration exercise on muscle force output and motor neuron excitability

Abstract:The aim of this study was to determine the effects of an acute Power Plate® machine bout on muscle force output, rate of force development, and motor neuron excitability. 19 recreationally trained subjects participated in this study. There was an increase in peak force during the muscular voluntary contraction (MVC) immediately after and 8 minutes after the Power Plate intervention.Conclusion:The results from this study indicates that a Power Plate intervention combined with static body weight squat exercises is sufficient to induce post activation potentation (PAP) as indicated by an increase in MVC peak force.
